The shoe that started it all. When our founder, Dr. H. Darrel Darby, a practising foot surgeon, launched his first therapeutic shoe with semi-rigid sole and innovative sports shoe characteristics in the USA, DARCO set an innovative example in the direction of postoperative care. Foot surgeons all over the world recognised the great benefits for safeguarding the surgical result, promoting compliance and the patient’s quality of life.

DARCO International, Inc. expands and moves its corporate headquarters to Huntington, West Virginia, USA.

With its own development and distribution of special implants for foot surgery, DARCO positions itself as a specialist for foot and ankle care. Establishment of the European distribution centre DARCO (Europe) GmbH in Dießen am Ammersee.
Knowledge connects
Intensive exchange with international specialist societies and close cooperation with the Gesellschaft für Fuß- und Sprunggelenkchirurgie e.V. (Society for Foot and Ankle Surgery) promotes the specialisation of foot surgeons worldwide.
Start of own production
Establishment of the company’s own production facility in China.

Construction of the new company headquarters in Raisting, Upper Bavaria. Expanded storage capacities for the European hub. Training facilities for advanced and further training are built.
