New IWGDF Expert Guidelines
Practical guidelines on prevention and management of diabetes-related foot disorders
The International Working Group on the Diabetic Foot (IWGDF) produces evidence-based guidelines on the prevention and treatment of diabetes-related foot conditions every four years. In May 2023, the updated version of the guidelines was presented at the 9th International Diabetic Foot Symposium in The Hague. The tremendous achievement of the expert panel, which has met over the course of four years to exchange knowledge, conduct systematic research and collect recommendations and expertise from international interdisciplinary experts, impresses and motivates us greatly to advance our work in the field of diabetes and wound care based on these guidelines.
Diabetes-related foot diseases represent a major health burden worldwide. They are a great challenge in terms of healing and relieving the foot.
With its focus on diabetes and wound care, DARCO has set itself the task of preventing the development of wounds and ulcerations, or bringing existing wounds to healing and thus maintaining / restoring the patient’s mobility and enjoyment of life.
In all phases of care – preventive, acute or chronic – Because every step counts.
